Because place is the context. A social environment only works if it belongs to somewhere. The neighborhood is not a backdrop on Pondid. It is the thing being described.


When everything you post is attached to a real place, the stakes change. You are not broadcasting to strangers on the internet. You are speaking to your block. You might see the person you replied to at the cafe tomorrow. That structural condition does more for civility than any policy can.


It also means each neighborhood develops its own culture. What works in the East Village does not have to work in Astoria. Pondid does not impose a single set of norms. It lets each place become itself.
